Meet our newest talents
- Company Updates
- Our Team
In the months of March and April, we were lucky to gain five new talented employees spread across all the different teams in the company. As the driving force at Marketer, we want to celebrate all new talents joining us, each adding their remarkable experience and expertise to our teams and operation. Let’s get to know them a bit more as they introduce themselves and their unique backgrounds.
Xia Li, Senior UX Designer.
Hi, I'm Li Xia. I'm originally from Linhai, China, and currently live in Grünerløkka which is my favourite area in Oslo. I have been living here for five years and found that I like the fall and winter months best, as the city is so unique at that time of the year. During these years I have founded my own studio named Blåblå where I document self-expression artwork, and the studio has even participated in multiple exhibitions in different countries.
Tell us a bit about your background.
After my Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design in China, I came to Norway to study Design at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design, where I also acquired a Master’s degree in Interaction Design. I then took one year to travel around the world and work as a freelance designer. I came back to Norway in 2019 and started working full-time as a UX designer in a blockchain tech company named Empower where I was there for three years, designing Saas products from scratch.
What motivated you to start at Marketer?
Multiple things! I was really captivated by the products, and I can see how the real estate industry is in need of Marketer’s data-driven solutions. The location of the Oslo office is also something that stood out to me, and now that I have worked here for a couple of weeks I really enjoy the office culture as well. I have met so many friendly and talented colleagues in a short time, and I am excited to get to know everyone better.
(Fun fact) What was your dream job when you were younger?
My dream job actually was to be a really good designer, so I guess everything I have done has led to where I am today, but the learning never stops.
Jose Antonio Orellana, Senior UI Designer.
Hi! I'm Jose and I'm originally from Málaga, Spain. After living for a long period in Estonia I just relocated to Oslo to start a new adventure here. I'm very into arts and creativity so most of my hobbies and things I like doing are related to that. I enjoy finding happiness in small moments like being outdoors, hanging out with friends or discovering new places.
Tell us a bit about your background.
So, I started studying web development in Spain, and along the way, I learned some Graphic Design and figured out that I wanted to do that instead. I ended up taking a Master's degree in 3D Modeling & Motion Graphics and I eventually became UI/UX Designer through work experience in diverse IT companies, internships, and a lot of self-learning.
What are you looking forward to in this job?
I am looking forward to being a part of the Product design team at Marketer formed of talented people from diverse backgrounds. I believe that as a designer I'll learn a lot about how we will collaborate to shape a solid, top-notch product.
(Fun fact) Will you let us in on one dream that you have on your bucket list?
As I am kind of an amateur musician I would say the most amazing dream for me would probably be to perform at a major music festival.
Raquel Martínez Sánchez, Customer Support Advisor.
Hi, my name is Raquel Martínez Sánchez, and I am from Granada, a sunny Southern city in Spain. I am an adventurous individual that loves nature, photography, languages, and getting to know not-so-touristy places. As soon as I finished my bachelor's degree I left Spain and embarked on an adventure to Iceland and Norway, ending up in Russia where I continued studying for a Master’s degree.
Tell us a bit about your background.
I have a bachelor's degree in Slavic Languages and a Master's degree in Political Analysis and Public Policy. My job experience is quite wide, including everything from translation to Social Media management at an international news outlet.
What do you look forward to with this role?
What excites me about my new position at Marketer is the possibility of deepening my marketing notions in SaaS, especially in terms of paid campaigns since I have only worked with organic content before.
(Fun fact) If you had to teach a class on one thing, what would you teach?
A class on Tolkien mythology, I am quite a LOTR (Lord of the Rings) nerd.
Julia Grong, Sales Executive.
Hi, my name is Julia Grong and I grew up on a farm in Grong (yes, my last name is the same as my hometown). I have been told that I generally have a positive attitude, and like most Norwegians, I enjoy being outdoors and staying active. Other than that I am a very competitive person, and my favourite way to win is "as a team".
Tell us a bit about your background.
I originally developed an interest in the real estate market during my first years of university where I studied to be a real estate agent. After my completed Bachelor’s degree, I decided to put real estate on hold for a while to proceed with a Master’s degree in Business, which opened my eyes to entrepreneurship and startups and made me change course.
What motivated you to start at Marketer?
I embarked on my professional career in a fast-growing Norwegian tech startup called Airthings, where I stayed for four years and worked with developing new markets, mainly in European retail. Then, this awesome opportunity to revisit the world of real estate came along, and I just had to go for it. Marketer is young, busy and fun which is exactly what I want from a work environment, and I look forward to seeing how the journey will continue.
(Fun fact) Do you have any hidden talents?
I actually did a lot of acting when I was younger, and I once did a monologue in front of almost 2000 people.
Birgitte Lie, Junior Sales Executive.
Hi, my name is Birgitte and I thrive when being challenged and love when things are fast-paced and unpredictable. No two days are the same in sales, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! I believe my team would say I’m an energetic person, and I like to spread good energy and enthusiasm to the people around me.
Tell us a bit about your background.
I actually started my education in the US in Nutritional Sciences with a major in pre-medicine and a minor in Biochemistry. However, I found my passion for technical sales when I joined a Norwegian SaaS scale-up called Boost AI in-between my education. Last year, I was also fortunate to join an amazing start-up program called GründerAcademy. This world of sales, tech, and AI was so intriguing, which might give you an idea of why I am ecstatic to be part of Marketer’s journey.
How have the first weeks at Marketer been?
What can I say, I feel so at home already! Halfway through week one, I kept telling myself how lucky I am to be joining Marketer at a time like this. After I had a few “get-to-know us” sessions with some of my amazing co-workers and the co-founders my overall impression is that everyone is very supportive and a lot of fun. I love that team spirit seems to be of high priority to everyone.
(Fun fact) What is something that makes you passionate?
My excitement about topics that fascinate me can be through the roof sometimes, and I love a nerdy conversation that goes way too deep and into way too many details.
